A long time ago, in a place now known as the eighties, in Puerto Rico you were either a “cocolo”, somebody who listened to music from the ghetto and the streets, or a “rockero”, those who listened to American pop music. Javier is a “cocolo” who’s trying to find the courage to ask out the girl of his dreams. Laura, the prettiest “rockera” in their school, is trying to regain her popularity after her friends reject her for being a flirt. During a mix up at their high school, Laura and Javier are forced to enter a TV dance contest. In order to win, the snotty rich girl and the guy from the wrong side of the tracks have to discover that comedy and teenage angst move to same beat.

Gustl has married the beautiful Helene. They have a harmonious marriage, the love games are daring, and the Kamasutra is always lying next to the bed. But Gustl still has one wish: to celebrate a real orgy. He suspects that his younger colleagues are always having wild parties. He wants to be one of them, but is never invited to such parties. So he persuades his wife to organize an orgy herself. After much toing and froing, Helene agrees. The two of them put an ad in the newspaper. Like-minded people come forward, Gustl and Helene sort out "suitable" people and get the party underway. When the horde of libido-ready middle-class people arrives at the mattress-lined apartment, there is no sign of Gustl...

The Movie Movie shows how the camera, editing techniques, make-up and sound can be used in film and video to deliberately manipulate our perceptions and emotions. Drama, action and slapstick humour are combined in a simple, family-oriented plot. There is no dialogue, but there is an explanatory song. Behind-the-scenes vignettes highlight the message that in a movie everything is not quite as it seems.
